The Beauty Book for Brain Cancer by Darren Tieste

Renowned Australian photographer Darren Tieste has combined a good cause, big, BIG celebrities, and an incredible message into a 312 page hardcover coffee table book - 'The Beauty Book for Brain Cancer'.

With breathtaking images and the support of some of the biggest identities in the world - Kim Kardashian, Eva Longoria, Miley Cyrus, Scarlett Johansson and squillions more - the glossy tome is much more than a beautiful book.

Darren Tieste founded this project in February 2009 after he lost his dear friend Natalie Sattler
Esposito to brain cancer in September 2008, when she was just 35 years old.

With his dear friend's life cut way too short, Darren decided to make use all his Hollywood connections to give brain cancer a voice - and The Beauty Book was born.

In April 2010, he was introduced to "Pantera" Sarah Uphoff, whose mother Louise Uphoff was battling brain cancer. Pantera joined forces with Darren to rally many of her celebrity friends to be photographed for The Beauty Book. During the second year of photographing celebrities for this project, her mum Louise lost her battle in July 2011.

All the money raised from sales of the book goes directly to two charities called SNOG and Headrush. These charitable organisations are non-profit and both rely on donations for research.

SNOG stands for the Sydney Neurology Oncology Group, and it aims to improve the management of brain tumours through targeted research, information and constant scrutiny of treatment options. The Group is involved in research projects that span the epidemiology, diagnostic images, surgical approach, tumour biology and drug trials.

The US organisation Headrush is a grassroots, solely volunteer-run, non-profit organisation whose mission is to significantly improve the future of brain tumor research, treatment, and survival. Headrush proceeds directly benefit the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center, in the form of a 'Brain Tumor Research Professorship Award.'

With 17,000 Americans, 2000 Australians, and 280,000 people worldwide diagnosed with brain tumours every year, brain cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths in patients younger than 35.

You can buy this book now from http://www.thebeautybook.org/ and selected bookstores around the world, for USD $39.99.

Australian born photographer Darren Tieste has been photographing for over 15 years, and his career has taken him all over the world. Darren's advertising clients have included Napoleon Perdis Cosmetics, Samsung, Bench Lingerie, Shangri La Hotels, Pantene, Clean & Clear and Haagen Daaz, and he has shot for Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire, Cleo, Remix and Prestige. The Beauty Book for Brain Cancer is Darren’s first book - no doubt his and greatest work and achievement to date.

  1. The most important aspect of the book is that all proceeds are going to be donated to help fund Brain Cancer Research. So this effort is really appreciable.
