Butterfly Essence Products - Just Divine

Loving the Butterfly Essence range of products for my cheeky three year old twins.

The soothing gentle wash is a hit at bath time - carefully produced with enriched ingredients and using soothing relaxing essential oils. The lavender scent is just divine ($15.95 for 250ml).

The shampoo is equally popular around here - it's gentle (trust me, as careful as you are, sometimes teeny suds get in those teeny, delicate eyes) and has a lavender and peppermint fragrance. So yum. ($15.95 for 200ml).

Then there is the bubble bath (with lavender and chamomile, $15.95, 250ml) and baby powder ($12.95, 100g) - and none of these products have little nasties for your bubs' delicate skin.

Butterfly Essence was founded in 2008 by Carla Tomini Foresti. Carla developed a passion for skincare while studying aromatherapy and nutrition. Through various workshops and tests she decided to trial her own products. She soon discovered a true, natural alternative was absent in the skin care market.

From 2008 she invested 24 months of testing and trialling various combinations, mixtures and products - and Butterfly Essence was born.

Butterfly Essence continually reviews all products and invest further into research and development to produce quality products in future. Gotta admire that.

Mia Freedman, Today Show, Cadel Evans, and 'Hero' = Mayhem

Did you see the interview with Mia Freedman on the Today Show this morning?

I did. And I nodded in agreement the whole time - while pausing for a few seconds to Tweet my sentiments about it all.

The gist of the segment - which you can view in full below - is that while Mia understands Cadel Evans's accomplishment (winning the Tour De France - the first time ever by an Australian) she doesn't understand the need to call him a 'hero'.

I agree. And this from someone who lives in a house where there is a shrine - no, a whole room - dedicated to Liverpool Football Club. My husband is a huge fan of the English Premier League club, and when I rang him to get his opinion on this debate, he said:

"I think that yes, Cadel should be called a hero. He acheived something in a comp that is highly regarded, something never acheived before by an Australian. It's a test of endurance. Sure, yes - he is a hero."

Was he angry about my opinion differing from him? Nope. Because he recognises it's just that - an opinion.

Am I pleased an Aussie finally won this coveted race? Yes! Does it fire me up and inspire me? Not even a smidge.

I asked myself, what if it were the Australian soccer/football side winning a World Cup match. Yes, that would excite me - I may even stay up for it! But would I call the team 'heroes'? Hell no.

The feedback on Mama Mia has been a mixed bag, but much of it has been nasty. Mia indicates she can't recall ever being so abused about a topic.

She says: "I think pursuing a life doing something you’re good at for the benefit of yourself is not heroic. It’s not a BAD thing, I’m not dissing Cadel (of course not!) but the idea that a sports person should be idolised because they can ride far or jump high or swim fast is, to me, a bit odd. I guess I’m just flagging the fact that if you do well in sport, the country and the media stop to worship you in a way that doesn’t happen to anyone else for doing anything else.

As Mia said this morning on the Today Show: "I just don't care... He's a man - who is paid a lot of money... To ride a bike."

"To call him a hero...?"

"Did he save anyone's life? People who are sports people do it for their own reasons."

Maybe that's why I am not stirred by this either.

You can read Mia's reaction to it all here: http://www.mamamia.com.au/news/cadel-evans-is-he-a-hero/

INTERVIEW: Scherri-Lee Biggs - Miss Universe Australia - talks Nude By Nature

Since Scherri-Lee Biggs was crowned Miss Universe Australia earlier this month, the 20-year-old model and communications student from Perth has secured a contract with hugely popular makeup line Nude By Nature.

Biggs also won more than $25,000 in prizes, and has earned the right to compete in the Miss Universe World finals to be held in Brazil on September 12.

Last year’s winner (and fellow Nude By Nature ambassador) Jesinta Campbell has said a record of more than 10,000 women registered for the contest. The comp's popularity is far from waning.

And the Nude By Nature line keeps expanding. Here, Scherri-Lee Biggs talks to Josie's Juice about the global comp, the popular makeup line, and her desert island makeup staple.

Miss Universe is judged on looks and substance and intelligence - though how do you feel about the ‘looks’ part?

I think when in amongst all the preparation the ‘looks’ part kind of falls to the wayside. Yes you’re hitting the gym when you can and eating well, but i tend to do that for energy and wellbeing. I do enjoy taking care of myself, beauty-wise. It’s something I enjoy, I’m very interested in great skin care products and I like painting my nails when I have a free minute. I think it’s always good the present yourself with pride.

What do you hope to achieve during your rein as Miss Universe Australia?

Right now, the focus is definitely on the international final. I feel it rather a large responsibility representing my country well and trusting that everyone back home will be proud of my efforts.

After Brazil, I’m keen to get stuck into my role at home. I hope to get out there and meet as many interesting people as I can, I want to be inspired, I want to be involved in my community and offer my assistance as influential role. I would like to speak to young girls and offer advice on confidence and happiness. I am currently aligned with Toybox Charity and would like to continue my work with them.

How do you feel about being involved with Nude By Nature? What appeals to you about the brand?

I love it! And I seriously mean it! After being introduced to Nude by Nature I haven’t looked back. The great thing with nude by nature is that you don’t need many products and you can create a beautiful flawless natural look with very little effort. Beyond the great makeup, it’s a fantastic company to be aligned with and I’m proud to represent. They use natural ingredients that I am honestly happy to promote to anyone.

What is your fail-safe, ten minute makeup routine?

Oooh, I like this question, because I usually only have 10 minutes, if that! Prime up your skin with Nude by Nature natural primer, as it will hold this 10 minute makeup all day and also help smooth it out. Keep foundation light and lightly conceal the t-zone and under the eye contour; bronze figure-three shapes down each side of the face, keeping it under the cheek bone. With the nude illuminator, highlight cheekbones, the bridge of the nose, the brow and 'cupid's bow' for a really fresh appearance.

Use a light fresh pinky gold on the eye (I’m not very good at eyes, so I keep it extremely natural, haha), lashings of a good mascara. Finish with the Nude By Nature Finishing Veil. Grab your bag... and ruuuun!

One Nude By Nature product allowed on that imaginary desert island: what would it be?

Illuminator... buuut in my head I have this really great castaway themed shoot going on where I’m all dewy sweaty on a life raft, but somehow have managed to accumulate a closet of designer clothes for my time on the island!

Maxim Australia Launch - Social Photos

The attendance numbers for the Maxim Australia magazine launch party - held on Tuesday July 20 - was testament to how well known the international brand is. And how Sydney folk will brave torrential rain and strong winds to attend an event with clout.

In fact, the Australian edition of Maxim is the 25th edition of the magazine, globally.

Says editor Santi Pintado in his editor's note: "Maxim arrives to serve your every want and need. Our mission is to make you laugh, make you think and make you fall in love with God's greatest creation - women."

There was plenty of that kinda eye candy on the evening of the launch event: Nikki Phillips, Jesinta Campbell, Bella Serventi, and the mag's own gorgeous fashion editor Livia Tassanyi.

With plenty of booze flowing throughout the night (the Maxim Russian Standard Red Devil custom created cocktail – a combination of Russian Standard Gold and raspberry gelato, garnished with ruby red craisins cocktail, complete with its the Maxim devil's horn-topped swizzle stick) plus Canadian Club & Dry, Pure Blonde, Two Italian Boys, POM Wonderful and Red Bull.

The delish canapes came from Toast Events, and the event was MC-ed by Andrew Voss, while DJ duo The Faders and Australian singer Zoe Badwi kept the crowd entertained with their performances throughout the night. The Polite In Public photobooth was also on hand for guests, who wore angel and devil themed props, taking home snaps from the evening.

On my way home, I snuck a peek into my goodie bag and as I had a quick flick through the launch issue of Maxim (there is MUCH to read, peeps - the column by Chris Lilley and the one by Kyle Sandilands were very entertaining reads) I was thrilled to see Josie's Juice fave men's undie brand Sly Underwear in the Maxim Top 10. Winning!

Jennifer Hawkins: Maxim Australia Launch Issue, August 2011

In a cheeky sneak peek, Jennifer Hawkins is the cover girl for the August 2011 launch issue of newcomer to the men's mag market, Maxim Australia.

I am loving that Kyle Sandilands is debuting his first-ever column for the mag. Nothing like a little controversy for a new title, and who better than one of the most hated-slash-loved people in radio (heck, on the planet).

The mag is set to go on sale tomorrow - Wednesday July 20 - and I predict it will sell out. With the launch event this evening in Sydney, it's sure to generate much buzz.

Experienced editor Santi Pintado is at the helm (ex-Ralph magazine), joined by fashion editor Livia Tassanyi, and a cast of capable mag peeps - this mag is one to watch. Call me kooky but I have long been a fan of men's mags.

Here is an earlier Josie's Juice blog on Maxim Australia:

MINKPINK new season Romance & Rebellion collection

The new collection of MINKPINK fashion loveliness is about to hit the shops, and it's a beauty...

It's kinda 'wild child' meets 'flower child' and the folks at MINKPINK have dubbed it the Romance & Rebellion collection. Love.

For the romantic, think: a mixed-up mess of animal print (adore), 90210 florals (oh my!) and polka dots. It's all skater skirts and sweetheart necklines, daisies and a mop of curls, topped with lace trimmed socks on dirty Connie-clad feet.

The rebel is all bohemian spirit-style: flowing maxis and flared sleeves. A vibrant clash of ethnic prints, oriental florals and paisleys, layered up with junk-store jewellery (be still my heart!).

David Beckham: why we named daughter Harper Seven

David Beckham talks - for the first time - about why they chose the names Harper and Seven for the their new baby girl (hint: the latter has nothing to do with Seinfeld..):

Mila Kunis: GQ, August 2011

Mila Kunis is the August 2011 US GQ magazine covergirl - and is shot by controversial photog Terry Richardson.

Here is an excerpt of her interview with the mag:

GQ: Your new movie is called Friends with Benefits. Ever been in one of those relationships?

Mila Kunis: Oy. I haven't, but I can give you my stance on it: It's like communism—good in theory, in execution it fails. Friends of mine have done it, and it never ends well. Why do people put themselves through that torture?

GQ: Who's the funniest person you know?

Mila Kunis: My father. He has such a dry sense of humor. He'd say something funny and then be like, "Kiddo, now's the part where you laugh."

GQ: What about someone you're not related to?

Mila Kunis: Lucille Ball is perfection—her timing and her commitment. Sarah Silverman is raunchy and brilliant, and people call her out for saying fucked-up stuff that they wouldn't have a problem with a man saying. How dare she? Who else? Tina Fey. She's a genius. I actually just finished reading Bossypants.

Sarah Jessica Parker: Vogue, August 2011 + I Don't Know How She Does It trailer

Sarah Jessica Parker features in a gorgeous pictorial in US Vogue, August 2011 issue.

The 46 year old (I know!) - whose movie I Don’t Know How She Does It will hit Australian screens later this year on November 3 - is playing up to the film's alter ego Kate Reddy. She also does a fine job of showing off her cute-as-pie twin girls, and her son, with husband Matthew Broderick also starring in the Vogue spread, shot by Mario Testino.

In the magazine interview, she talks about identifying with her beloved Sex and the City character, Carrie Bradshaw: “Bradshaw’s life is nothing – nothing – like mine. I loved playing her, and it changed my life in lots of wonderful ways, but I’m not a crazy shoe lady, I don’t think about fashion all day long, although I have a great respect for the industry. Every choice we’ve made has been different, but with Kate I really understood the attempt at a life.”

Diesel Swimwear Opens Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim with SKYY Vodka Collaboration

Diesel Swimwear has opened Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim with a SKYY® Vodka collaboration.

Diesel introduced its S/S 2012 swimwear collection during the South-Beach based event with a splashing runway show at the “Cabana Grande” to kick off Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim. The show saw Diesel partnering with SKYY® Vodka for an extravaganza at The Raleigh on July 14th.

Special guest on the runway was Kristin Cavallari (The Hills), as she unveiled Diesel and SKYY Vodka’s capsule collection: four eye-catching pieces inspired by the vodka’s iconic cobalt blue bottles and logo graphics, infused with strong Diesel influences.

In line with the main collection, the male swimwear line is defined by hardware, check and stripes. The line for women is a reinterpretation of denim in every aspect: a denim look effect, embroideries, buttons and rivets, and laces-leather effects.

The runway show then merged into the official kick-off party of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim, presented by SKYY Vodka, with IMG and Mercedes-Benz, at the Raleigh’s pool deck and oasis, featuring Diesel Island. Special cocktail mixes by SKYY (yum) added to the beachy feel, partying to a DJ set by none other than Gossip Girl star Jessica Szohr.

Cavallari's fiancé Jay Cutler chilled out in the audience with NFL player Chad Ochocinco.
