How Do I Look? US show comes to Australia for a makeover

Dying for a professional makeover?

This is your chance!

The Style network, screening here on Foxtel and Austar, announced today that popular fashion intervention series 'How Do I Look?' and its energetic host and fashion expert Jeannie Mai (who is a total doll - I interviewed her for Josie's Juice), will be coming to Sydney to advise the, um, 'stylistically-challenged' in a special production set just for us in Australia.

To enter, simply go here: www.mystyle.com/sydney

Or maybe it's you that needs the makeover?

Nominate yourself or a daggy friend now.

On each episode of 'How Do I Look?' Jeannie meets with a nominated fashion victim for a candid interview about her inadequate sense of style. Once the fashion intervention happens, Jeannie directs her family and friends – or accomplices – to single out the items that they find exceptionally appalling, and Jeannie disposes of them through the “Ewww Tube” - which vacuums clothes up through the ceiling and out of her life forever.

Following this tough love, the accomplices and stylist hit the shops to create their own distinct wardrobe collection for the 'victim’s' consideration. Without knowing which family member or friend pulled together the looks, the walking fashion disaster discovers a new appreciation for clothes as they choose their favourite outfits from each of the mystery collections.

The candidate then debuts her new look in front of her eager audience in that includes Jeannie, the accomplices and other friends and family.

For this Australian production, this big reveal will take place at a fabulous venue in Sydney (further details to follow).

Jeannie is an experienced makeup artist and fashion expert, and 'How Do I Look' is currently in its twelfth season. After successfully launching her career as a stylist with clients including Christina Aguilera, Alicia Keys, and Rosario Dawson, she is also frequent fashion correspondent on E! News.

Enter to go in the running to be chosen for a televised makeover - entries close Monday October 3, 2011.

Here is a clip from the show:

SCOOP! Kourtney Kardashian on Cosmopolitan Middle East cover

Kourtney Kardashian has scored her first ever Cosmopolitan cover - and she looked so fabulous, they decided to put her on two covers!

Says editor in chief Kerrie Simon: "The Cosmopolitan Middle East team flew to LA to shoot Kourtney Kardashian at the Beverly Hills Hotel last month.

"Together with photographer extraordinaire John Russo, we managed to get two brilliant cover options. We weren’t able to pick one over the other, so we decided to run them both, and let our readers decide which is their favourite!

"Kourtney was super-chilled, chatting away to the team about her son Mason, and telling us that he had stolen the show at Kim’s wedding, which had taken place the week before. She was also really happy to be at the hotel, as she told us she grew up just down the street and so spent a lot of weekends at The Beverly Hills Hotel.

"This is Kourtney’s first ever Cosmo cover, and the first time a magazine in the region has come out with a double cover, so we’re massively excited."

And so they should be. This cover - well, both of them - is a beauty!

Those Middle East Cosmo gals (have I mentioned Kerrie Simon is a fellow Australian?! As is art director Acacia Stichter) are obviously a magic team.

Congrats, ladies!

The October issue of Cosmopolitan Middle East is onsale October 1.

Who magazine: Ruined By Fame

This week's edition of Who is a beauty.

The Emmys round-up is here. Fashion, not the awards, people. Focus on what's important!

I do love the detail one can only ever see in print: Gwyneth's midriff, for example.

The cover story is an interesting read on how Hollywood chews up young, impressionable starlets and spits them out... Heidi Montag, exhibit A.

Also a winner is the indepth interview with Brad Pitt.

And in an unrelated segue, the toddler beauty pageant controversy continues. Go into their bizarr-o world here.

Onsale now, until Thursday 29 September.

Katy Perry: InStyle magazine US, October 2011

Katy Perry features in a stunning InStyle magazine cover for the upcoming October 2011 US edition.

Could she be the only person on earth to seriously rock pop-pink locks... and still manage to look hot?

Here is her behind the scenes video from the shoot.

Michelle Williams: Vogue US, October 2011

With Michelle Williams's new movie, 'My Week with Marilyn', opening in the US November 4, she donned similar Monroe-inspired garb for the US Vogue October 2011 shoot and cover, which centres on the week of Marilyn’s life in 1956 while filming the movie 'The Prince and the Showgirl.'

In the interview, she says:

On letting down her guard during interviews: “I feel like something has changed for me, but it’s a new change, so it’s going to be hard for me to describe. Maybe it has something to do with turning 30. I don’t feel as shy or nervous or self-conscious. I have more confidence that I can handle what life brings me. I don’t feel scared to have an idea and express it. I feel giddy about it because it’s a complete transformation. It’s like I’ve found my voice.”

On the daunting role of such an iconic figure : “As soon as I finished the script [for 'My Week with Marilyn'], I knew that I wanted to do it, and then I spent six months trying to talk myself out of it. But I always knew that I never really had a choice. I’ve started to believe that you get the piece of material that you were ready for.”

Ruby Rose, Maxim Australia magazine: October 2011

Ruby Rose. Maxim Australia magazine. Naked.

It's the cover they'll all be talking about.

Like or dislike?

Rose said of the shoot styling, "We chose loads of different wigs cause I guess we don't have anything else to run with, being that there's no clothing..."

Emmys Red Carpet 2011 - Fashion Police, on E!

The 2011 Primetime Emmy® Awards© have been and gone, and one of the highlights was undoubtedly E!’s “Live From the Red Carpet”, with Ryan Seacrest and Giuliana Rancic.

E! provided the complete coverage for which they are renowned (hello, 20 cameras, including the exclusive Glam Cam 360, Limo Cam and Fashion Cam – while providing up-to-the-minute details from the A-list red carpet.

Some of the entertaining red carpet interviews done by the dynamic duo (others try, but really, nobody can match their brand of coverage and easy banter) were with this year's sensational host Jane Lynch (did you see her Jersey send-up? Hilare! See link below), and her Glee co-stars Lea Michele and Dianna Agron, Heidi Klum and Seal, Randy Jackson, E!'s own Joel McHale (one of THE best things on E!), Steve Carell, Kathy Griffin, and the big winners of the night, the cast of Modern Family.

Want an fashion post-mortem? On Wednesday, September 21st at 8.30pm on E!, Joan Rivers hosts a special hour of E!’s Fashion Police, highlighting the best and worst looks from the previous night’s Emmy awards with fellow panelists hosts Giuliana Rancic, Kelly Osbourne and George Kotsiopoulos, along with special guest Nina Garcia, Fashion Director for Marie Claire.

Regular watchers of this weekly fashion round-up know too well the comments are often scathing, but - they say - all in jest.

See who they say got the look right on the night - and who missed the mark entirely (very few... eeeveryone has a stylist these days, darling).
