Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis: split confirmed

Oh. Now this is sad celeb news: Johnny Depp and his partner Vanessa Paradis have just confirmed their split. "Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis have amicably separated," Depp's publicist told Entertainment Tonight. "Please respect their privacy and, more importantly, the privacy of their children."

The couple have two children, Lily-Rose, 13, and John, 9, and divide their time between France and the United States.

The 49-year-old 'Dark Shadows' star told Vogue magazine in 2010 that the pair never felt the need to get married.

"Marriage is really from soul to soul, heart to heart. You don't need somebody to say, okay you're married," he said.

"If Vanessa wanted to get hitched, why not? But the thing is, I'd be so scared of ruining her last name. She's got such a good last name."

What is it about certain celebs that make us so disappointed and sad when their partnership is kaput?


When kids are involved, it's deeply saddening.


But I am guessing it's because we figure: if they have all this money, which equals a comfortable lifestyle, what other problems could they possibly have?


Of course, it is completely simplifying the whole thing.
