‘Waltzing Matilda’ Olympic Channel 9 Promo: Now on iTunes

And so, with the 2012 London Olympics almost over, it's time to look back proudly at what our Australian team has achieved - and listen to that Channel 9 Olympics promo one last time.

If you can't get enough of that song - you know, the stirring Jessica Mauboy/Stan Walker rendition of Australian classic 'Waltzing Matilda' - and want to listen to the full version, here's some good news - it's now finally available on iTunes! Here's the cover art for the song:

So, how did this infectious track come to be?

Noise International - a 'sound house' based in Sydney, Australia who work in television, film and advertising globally - teamed with Sony Music to create this rousing, anthemic version of Waltzing Matilda, for Channel Nine’s London 2012 Olympic promo campaign featuring Sony Music artists Jessica Mauboy and Stan Walker.
The new arrangement was created by Noise’s Creative Director Bruce Heald, working with Channel Nine’s Creative Director, Andrew Peace - both brought this vision for the song to life.

Peace’s brief was to create a fresh, modern interpretation that would resonate with all age groups and act as an anthem to Nine’s coverage of the games; Heald worked closely with him to ensure that the end result did exactly that.
"I was honoured to be asked to be part of this project. As all Aussie kids have, I grew up watching the Olympics and the athletes are so inspiring. By singing on the track, and the proceeds going back to the team, in a very small way I’ll feel like I have contributed to helping win gold for our country. I wish every single member of the Australian team the very best of luck", said Jessica Mauboy when she was asked to come on-board.
"To work with a song that resounds so strongly with so many Australians is both a gift and a great responsibility," says Bruce Heald. "For me, this was a golden opportunity to create a version of Waltzing Matilda that would bring the song alive for a new generation and Jessica and Stan’s powerful, emotive performances do exactly that. The hope is that the song not only becomes synonymous with the Australian Team’s achievements in the 2012 Olympics but also with all Australians supporting the athletes’ endeavours."

The single is available for purchase via iTunes only, and you can buy it here:
The proceeds from the sale of the single are going to the Australian Olympic Committee.
