Melissa George, 'The Morning Show', and 'Home & Away': video clips

In news just in, Australian actress Melissa George hasn't taken too kindly to the mention of her role on the Aussie soap 'Home & Away' while on Australian TV's 'The Morning Show'.

The program's executive producer Sarah Stinson told news.com.au that she originally thought the meltdown was a prank.

"At first I thought I was being Punk'd because it seemed so surreal," she told Confidential. "We're genuinely proud of Melissa's achievements, she's done a lot of great work, and I didn't realise she had such an issue with her roots. Most of our guests are usually proud to embrace where they've come from and we never would have done anything to purposely upset her."

Melissa, who has appeared in 'Grey's Anatomy', 'Alias', and my favourite Aussie series of all time 'The Slap' [her role is exceptional in that] said the Australian press were "disgusting" for constantly aligning her with the soap.

"I don't need credibility from my country any more, I just need them all to be quiet," she said. "If they have nothing intelligent to say, please don't speak to me any more. I'd rather be having a croissant and an espresso in Paris or walking my French bulldog in New York City.

"I've never spoken out about it because I have to be the loyal good Aussie, who goes away and comes home.

"But I'm a really hard-working woman and people have to respect me for what I've done ... my next call will be to Home And Away to ask them to pay me because nobody does more promotion for that f ... ing show than me."

I thought this recent appearance in Australia had gone very well for her image - she appeared on 'Today' also last week, helping promote McHappy Day - and it's a shame to hear it descended to this.

And a few days later Melissa George appeared on 'The Jonathan Ross Show' and happily chatted with the host about lots of things... yes, including 'Home & Away':

Thoughts? Should Australian media move on and concentrate on what she has done since the decades she has been away from the soapie? Or is the mention of the show harmless?

  1. Good on her for saying what she did. Pretty pathetic that she appears on their show and they try to reduce her accomplishments back to little aussie melissa who played angel on home and away 20 years ago. Get a clue morning show!

  2. It was stuck up & classless..

Ms George needs to take a few lessons on how to present oneself from Nicole Kidman & Cate Blanchett..
