'We Saw Your Junk' - viral video

'We Saw Your Junk' - the reply to the Oscars parody 'We Saw Your Boobs', sung by Seth MacFarlane at the Oscars a few days ago.

Watch, as it goes viral:

"I was too selfish and set in my ways to have my child at 43" - real-life read

A friend sent me this and it was hard to read.

That's because it's honest and raw and open. And sometimes the truth hurts.

But it's her truth and kudos to her for being frank. I am not so sure how the writer's child will feel when she reads this, but again... it's her story and she didn't have to tell it, but was compelled to.

Written by Jackie Brown (above, with her child), it appeared in Daily Mail online and the story is titled:

"I was too selfish and set in my ways to have my child at 43: An astonishing confession from a mother who won't take her daughter swimming in case it ruins her pedicure."

Here is an excerpt:

"Every night, I arrive home late from work and wearily climb the stairs to peek in on my three-year-old daughter, Charlotte. She’s been in bed for hours and is already fast asleep. Like many working mothers, I have paid someone else to read her stories, clean her teeth and settle her.

Plenty of women do this and don’t give it a second thought. But as I stand there, stroking my daughter’s silky head, I feel my heart lurch because I know I am a neglectful mother and I have let this child down.

The reason for this is quite simple. At nearly 47, I am too old to be a good parent to her. Certainly, by leaving it so late, I have not transformed into the mother I thought I might be. I haven’t made room in my life for this tiny blonde bombshell who constantly begs me to paint pictures, bake biscuits and take her swimming."

Oscars Beauty 2013: Sally Hansen Nails

Ask any manicurist about the importance of impeccable nails on an awards night [hell, any night] and the answer is clear: they need to be sheer perfection.

And never more important than on the most important of important awards nights: the Oscars.

And so, at the 85th annual Academy Awards, glam nails stole the spotlight. Singer Adele, and model turned actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley had celebrity manicurist Kimmie Kyees on hand to add the final, well, polish to their look.

Kyees in turn relied on renowned nail lacquer brand Sally Hansen to create signature nail styles for their red carpet moment.

First, Adele. Nominated for 'best original song' "Skyfall” from the latest James Bond picture of the same name, she sported a mani with Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure nail lacquer in Naked Ambition.

Naked Ambition
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, impossibly gorgeous English model and actress, wore a custom-mixed colour with beaded adornments to create a very chic, very now nail.

Kyees created her look by painting one layer of Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Mudslide under two coats of Complete Salon Manicure in Shell We Dance.  While nails were still wet, Kyees applied a pearl and a gold metallic bead to the bottom centre of each nail.

Mudslide

Shell We Dance
LA-based Kyees is known for her mani originality, creating teeny works of art on each fingertip for A-listers. Kyees uses the pro Sally Hansen range of cutting edge, fashion-forward colours.

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure is RRP$ 14.95 each.

Oh, and here is my attempt at the Kyees/Rosie nail... so simple, so chic. Try it.

MiNDFOOD: Josie Gagliano - 'My Role As a Carer' feature story

As any writer will tell you, when you're asked to write a piece about your life, it's equal parts exciting, liberating, and daunting.

And so, I wrote a piece for the current issue of MiNDFOOD magazine with excited trepidation: after all, this HAS been my life for the past five years.

I don't think I give people the impression that my life is perfect - in fact, for those who know me, far from it. It's flawed and not what I expected. But I am resilient and have learned to keep pushing through adversity.

The reality is the past five years have been filled with emotional highs and lows so deep that I am grateful to be sane, and still be very much capable of having a bloody good laugh.

Oh, and my marriage is still intact and happy [most days, ha!] and my kids are thriving, and I get to still nurture friendships I hold so dear to me.

You can read the entire feature story on my role as a carer in the March 2013 Australian edition of MiNDFOOD magazine, featuring Sally Field on the cover.

And, here is a link to a radio interview I did for MiNDFOOD radio.

Enjoy the whole issue - it is brilliant, engaging, and inspiring, as always. Here is the cover.

Kids' Oscars 2013: VIDEO

The 2013 Oscars are over... and if you haven't already seen 'Best Picture' winner 'Argo', or 'Lincoln', 'Zero Dark Thirty', 'Django Unchained', or 'Beasts of the Southern Wild', now is your chance to see them - reenacted by kids:

Oscars Food 2013 - Wolfgang Puck's Menu

Actors and actresses who have been starving themselves to fit into tight dresses and fitted suits are in for a treat... if they're really, truly hungry. And can unbutton the dress/tux discreetly.

According to Guardian UK, Oscars kitchen maestro Wolfgang Puck is prepping this for Oscars guests:

He's mixing five kilos of white truffles from Alba, Italy, into chestnut tortellini.

This will be followed by Snake River Farm steak, Japanese matsutake mushrooms and 500 kilos of Guittard bittersweet chocolate.

And it'll all be washed down with Napa Valley reserve cabernet sauvignon and chardonnay and three types of champagne: Thienot brut, Thienot rosé, and Thienot vintage.

Also on the menu is chicken pot pie, sushi, as well as chocolate treats moulded in the shape of the Oscar statue. Other items on the menu include his signature favourites like smoked salmon 'Oscars', slow-braised lamb shank, mini Kobe burgers with aged cheddar and remoulade, and sustainable seafood like Atlantic bigeye tuna and wild caught yellowtail snapper.

"I'm not sick of cooking for the Oscars. I'm not sick of making love, so I'm happy," Puck told reporters at the Governor's Ball menu preview, pictured below. "I think the Oscars is the greatest party in the world, and I think we are happy to do it every year."

Extravagant, yes. But... it's Hollywood.

Jennifer Lawrence falls... and drop the 'f' bomb

If you're having a girl crush moment on Jennifer Lawrence... it's about to be amplified.

The actress won for 'Best Actress' at the 2013 Oscars, and she strode up the first two steps to accept the award, she tripped.

She stayed for a moment... then Hugh Jackman quickly ran to her aid (of course he did. He's the best).

Here's the clip:

When asked in the press room what went through her head after she fell, she said:

"Uh… a bad word that I can't say, that starts with an F."

Love you, Jennifer!

Seth MacFarlane: 'We Saw Your Boobs' Oscars 2013 Opening Song

Here is the clip from Oscars 2013 host Seth MacFarlane, in which he sings "We Saw Your Boobs", a 'tribute' to all the onscreen nudie boob shots. Kate Winslet is a repeat 'offender'.

Anne Hathaway's Nipples - Oscars 2013

Oh, come ON!

How can I NOT create a blog post on Anne Hathway's boobs, specificially... her nipples.

In desperate need of nipple covers, Miss Hathaway's pert nipples already have their own Twitter account. Of course. Her nipples are this year's Angelina Jolie leg.

It's almost like she knew about Oscar host Seth McFarlane's opening musical number 'We Saw Your Boobs' - a fun tribute to all the breasts we have seen in Hollywood flicks [clip to come].
